Victorian Gunmetal Expandable Lorgnette Glasses

A simply lovely and unusual Victorian era (ca1880) expandable lorgnette. This simple yet beautiful lorgnette is made of a gunmetal frame and has 2 round reading glasses set within it. The lorgnette is hinged at the nose and swings open mechanically when pushed. The loop handle is stamped "GERMANY" and "GUNMETAL". It's a fabulous and special piece and would make a wonderful addition to any collection! 

Measurements: When closed, the lorgnette measures slightly less than 4 1/4" long and approximately 1 3/4" at the widest point. When opened, the space between the lenses measures 1 1/4" wide and the length from end to end is 6 1/4". Each lens has a diameter of 1 1/2".

Condition: The overall condition of the lorgnette is excellent. There is no damage to the gunmetal frame or to the glasses. The lorgnette stays securely closed and the hinges are in good working condition.
